Rory's Story Cubes

The Creativity Hub Rory's Story Cubes
not suitable for children under 36 months
A slight diversion from picture books, but a wonderful resource tool for your classroom or handbag, and one I have to share :)

Rory's Story Cubes is a pocket sized story generator. The handy-sized box contains nine cubes with a variety of images. You roll the cubes and devise a story based on the images you see.

Suitable for one-to-one work or a group, they are great as ice-breakers or for those times when you need a little quiet entertainment  e.g. in waiting rooms or on train journeys. I've whipped these gems out many-a-time let me tell you!
A perfect size for your bag or glove compartment, the box is sturdy with
a magnetic lid for safe keeping.
There's no right or wrong way to play and the possibilities are endless. The game promotes creative thinking, literacy skills & vocabulary. Learning can be extended by sketching and writing the stories each child comes up with- some children will love having their story documented and recorded for keeps. We've acted out stories, played memory games and split into story-telling teams. Children love the open-ended possibilities and the fact that they are generating their own, original stories.
Cleverly designed, simple images can be interpreted in different ways, depending on who
is playing the game.
I also love the sensory experience - the weight of the cubes in your hand and the lovely clunky-clatter sound they make when jiggled or rolled on a table.

There are various themes available as well as 'max-size' cubes for larger groups or children with less mobility or impaired vision.
